Minersville Reservoir

Notice – Minersville is a Trophy lake.  Special regulations apply.  Please see the proclomation for more details.

July 15, 2019 – Fishing has been good.  A little slow on trout, but I have heard of a few wiper being caught and a few people have done really well on bass.  Trolling in a boat seems to be the best.  Shore fishing a little slow, but you should still catch fish. Different hatches will bring fish into the shallows throughout the year.

June 11, 2019 – Fishing has been great.  Early reports have said that Flies are doing really well.  Nymphs and Wooly buggers seem to be a great combo.  Haven’t heard of many people catching any wipers yet.

May 4th, 2016 – Fishing has slowed down a little, but is still pretty good.  Boat fishing should be really good.

March 2nd, 2016 – Minersville ice off has begun.  Fisherman were lined up on the South end of the lake yesterday.  Should be even better today.

February 19th, 2016 – A recent warm spell has caused concern for Ice thickness.  A couple of customers have told us that there is still 12+ inches of ice.  This should be enough, but water and slush can change that quickly.  Please be careful and check back for more information on Ice thickness.  I will post as I hear what people are saying. (We do not recommend fishing on thin ice and caution everyone to be thorough on making sure safety is your concern.)

January 8th, 2016 – good fishing and tons of ice.  Recent snow has increased the ice thickness and conditions are great!  Small Jigs seem to be the hottest.  Atomic teasers still seem to be the most popular.

November 18th, 2015 – Early reports have been good on Ice Fishing.  Atomic Teasers and Plastics in White, Pink and Orange seem to be the Hottest.

April 18th, 2015 – Fishing has been good.  We have heard of a few Wipers being caught and early fly fishing has been good for trout.  Wooly Buggers, Midges/Nymphs have been the top choice so far.  Green/Orange or Black/Orange are good combos.  Gold and Silver for Lures.

January 2, 2015 – The ice is now thick enough that fishing has started.  Early reports are a little slow, but it should pick up soon with warmer weather coming. Black seems to be the most popular color topic for bait so far this year.  (Black Leach, Buggers, Dark Jigs, etc.)

August 26th, 2014 – Fishing has been good from a boat. A little slow from the shore.  Bass are biting along the shore in spots with Crawdad or Red/Orange spoon lures.

July 13th, 2014 – Fishing has been average. Slowed from the first of the year.

June 6th, 2014 – Fishing has been good.  The Bass are spawning and I have heard reports of people doing really wall on the west side – towards the old Beer and Bait.

May 16th, 2014 – Fishing has picked up.  Trolling has been really good and the Bass are starting to bite.  I have seen a few photos of full stringers.

April 15th, 2014 – Haven’t heard much the last week on fishing.  Still a little slow.

April 7th, 2014 – Fishing has still been slow.  Few patches of decent fishing, but spotty.

March 25, 2014 – Fishing has been slow.  Not sure if it is because of an early ice off, unusually warm temps or all of the above.  Hoping for it to pick up soon.

March 15, 2014 – Fishing has been average.  We haven’t had the “Big Days” like we had last year at Ice off.  I will keep you posted if it picks up soon.

February 28, 2014 – The fish have moved out and fishing has slowed a little. (Except in a boat) This means that we are probably 1-2 weeks away from spawning.  Fishing should be really good… really soon.  Keep watching for new updates.  As soon as it gets hot, I will update here.

February 22, 2014 – The Ice is now off of Minersville – Early fishing reports state the fishing has been really good.  We have sold a lot of black and green wooly buggers and small beadhead nymphs.

December 26, 2013 – Fishing reports have been average.  Some good sized fish have been caught but they times they are biting is patchy.  You may do ok for an hour or two and then it can just stop.  No reports of large quantities of fish being caught.

December 7, 2013 – Due to the recent cold streak the ice at Minersville reservoir should be safe to fish on. White and Black Jigs seem to be the most popular recently.

May 35, 2013 – Fishing has slowed down from the early rush.  Still good trolling and flies from Float Tubes or a little ways away from shore.

May 2, 2013 – Early fishing was good as soon as the ice was gone.  We haven’t heard much this last week, so we assume that the fishing has slowed down a little.

March 12, 2013 – The ice is starting to come off of the edges of the lake and fishing has been good.  Woolly Buggers, Wooly Worms, Nymphs and Maribou Jigs will be a great way to start.

November 30, 2012 – Fishing is still good… Without the standard snowfall and lower temperatures, the fishing season has been extended.  Big fish are still being pulled from the south end of the lake.

June 15, 2012 – Fishing is good.  Bass have started to bite because of the recent warm weather.  Trout are doing really good from boat and average from shore.  Spinners, Spinner Bait, Silver and Gold lures and Plastic worms are the ones recommended.

May 22, 2012 – Fishing has slowed down a little after the crazy March and April.  Flies and lures are still working and fishing from a boat has still been good, but we haven’t heard any stores of 50+ fish for a while.

Fishing Report for Minersville Reservoir – May 2012 –

Fishing was fantastic for a few weeks in the spring and has slowed down a little.  For a few weeks, we heard of fisherman catching upwards of 70 fish in a day.  Even though it has slowed down, the weather has been beautiful and we are expecting a good Memorial Day weekend with great conditions and some Big Catches.

Don’t forget to send us your photos so that we can add them to our Website.  Email them to: bigc7@msn.com

Fishing Report for Minersville Reservoir – April 2011 – Southern Utah – West of Beaver Utah

Minersville Reservoir is starting to “Warm” up.  This means that the Bass are starting to bite and the trout fishing is doing good.  Some fish are being caught from shore and Boats are doing well.  Colder water is still making most fish stay a little deeper.

Fly fishing will start picking up with the arrival of warmer water.  Some Midge activity is being found so Nymphs are starting to work.

Types of Fish:  Rainbow Trout – Brown Trout – Cutthroat Trout – Smallmouth Bass – Tiger Trout

Little Reservoir

July 15th, 2019 – Fishing has been good.  Upper lakes are now open and it has taken some of the pressure off of Little Reservoir.  Still catching a few browns, but most fisherman are catching a lot of fish.  Must use a minnow pattern/Lure if you want to go after the Brown Trout.

June 11th, 2019 – Fishing has been good!  It was stocked 5-30-19 and 6-6-19.  It has been pretty packed with fisherman because of the upper lakes being closed still.  We have heard of a few brown trout being caught as well.  2-3lb  range.

May 4th, 2016 – Early fishing reports have been good.  We have heard of a few individuals catching Tiger trout.  Not sure if they stocked it.  No reports of big browns being taken yet.

February 19th, 2016 – Lake is frozen for the winter.  Ice Fishing should be decent for those willing to venture up to the lake.

August 9th, 2015 – Fishing has been good.  Quite a few people have been catching browns.  I hear a lot of stories of them “Getting off the hook”.

June 10th, 2015 – Another big brown was caught – probably 12-14 lbs. – 28 or so inches.  Great fish.  Still waiting for customer to come in so we can get a pic.

April 18, 2015 – We have heard of a couple smaller browns being caught.  Over-all fishing has been average with most individuals catching 1-3 fish per hour. Best time for fishing is in the early morning and later in the afternoon.

March 21, 2015 – Ice is now off of Little Reservoir.  A little early this year.  Early fishing has been good.  Should be some good Browns taken.

August 26, 2014 – Fishing has been good.  Nelson Howard pulled in a 28″, 12 Pound German Brown trout. (Beautiful fish) Check it out in our Photo Gallery.

June 26, 2014 – Fishing has been fantastic – Usually smaller fish, but they have been biting. Gold and Silver Lures, Spinners or Worms are the top baits right now.

June 11, 2014 – This lake was stocked last week.  Fishing has been really good. Weather in the morning and evening is PERFECT right now! Worms and Power Bait are always the easiest for this lake.  I have heard of a couple of Browns being caught on Brown Trout Rapalas.

May 6th, 2014 – You have been able to get to little Res for about 4 weeks now.  Ice is completely off and early fishing reports have been good.  The easiest is worms and Power Bait.  Spinners and Flies are also working well.  Small wet flies in Black, Green or Brown patterns seem to be the preferred choice right now for fly fisherman.

April 15th, 2014 – Early fishing reports have been good.   Small fish, but expecting to hear some stories of some nice browns soon.

April 7, 2014 – Ice is now off.  You can get to and fish Little Reservoir.  There are a couple spots of snow still covering the road.  You may be able to get there in a car, but we still would recommend a truck or 4 wheel drive.

December 7, 2013– Ice should be covering the reservoir and should be safe to fish on.

May 25, 2013 – Fishing has been great.  We have seen a couple of big browns caught. (See them in the Photo Gallery.) Green and Rainbow Power Bait and Worms seem to be the best method of fishing.

May 2, 2013 – The lake is now completely free of ice and has been available for fishing the last few days.  Early fisherman at this lake usually do really well.

September 5, 2012 – Fishing has slowed down for Little Reservoir.  The moss has been taking over the lake because of warm weather and pollution from cabins above the reservoir.  Bait fishing isn’t too bad, but we recommend taking the time to drive to Kent’s, Anderson Meadow or Lebaron… All three have been doing well.

May 22, 2012 – Little Reservoir was stocked last week and the fishing has been really good.  I took some friends up and we caught ten fish in just over an hour.  Great place to take the kids.  Panther Martin’s, Jakes Lures and Bait fishing seeming to be the right combination for these fish.

If you are going after the browns, make sure and have some Rapala’s on hand.

April 18th, 2012 – Little Reservoir is now open!  As of April 16th, the ice has melted enough for fishing.  The road is accessible and a majority of ice has melted over the last 4 or 5 days. Fishing reports have been great!  Very few people have been up there so far.

Some Browns have been caught and a few of decent size.  Fishing should be amazing for the next few weeks as the fish are anxious to see the sun.

June 22, 2013

Little Res. has been fairly mossy. Great place for smaller trout. Some large Browns are taken from Little Res. early in the year.

Roads are open with easy acess to the lake.

Recommended:  Rapala’s, Spinners, Lures, Live Bait, Power Bait (Silver and Gold in lures and spinners. Rainbow or Brown trout Rapalas)

Lower Kents Lake – Tushar reservoir

The first month when Lower Kents lake is open is the best time to fish and catch some beautiful trout.  This lake has a tendency to get mossy during the latter summer months.

There is a large Campground at Tushar Lake (Lower Kents) with a beautiful scenery of the Tushar area.  You are within minutes of multiple other lakes from this area.

July 15th, 2019 – I haven’t heard too much about fishing at this lake.  I had one customer say he caught a couple when he went up at the end of June, but haven’t had much response otherwise.

June 6th, 2019 – 510 fish were stocked today.  Fishing is usually good early in the year at this lake.  You can catch some really pretty Brook Trout periodically.  Moss seems to take over most of the lake later in the summer.  You can still do well with flies and Bait later in the summer, but expect to catch some moss too.

February 19th, 2015 – Ice fishing should be good for those willing to venture up in a snowmobile.  Access is closed otherwise.

July 5th, 2015 – Fishing has been good.  Moss starts to cover portions of the lake making it harder to catch fish with lures.  Bait and Flies are really good this time of year though.

May 18th, 2015 – We have seen some beautiful pictures of Brook Trout being taken.  Great fishing early in the morning and late at night.

April 18th, 2015 – This lake is a Fly fisherman’s dream.  Plenty of moss and some beautiful Brook Trout make for some exciting fishing.  Early reports this year have been good.  We have seen a few pictures of some nice sized fish. 12-14″

May 22, 2012 – Lower Kent’s is open.  Campgrounds should be open and fishing has been good.  We are still in the first month of it being open and fly and bait fisherman have been doing well.

April 1, 2012 – Lower Kents is still closed – It will probably be the beginning to middle of May before this opens.  Lower Kents is stocked with, Cutthroat and some Tiger Trout.  You will also catch some Rainbow and Brook Trout that come down from Kent’s Lake.

Upper Kents Lake

July 15th, 2019 – Fish still have not been stocked in Upper Kents.  I would fish elsewhere until we get a stocking report with good news! 🙂

June 11th, 2019 – Fishing has not been good this year.  Kents lake had a pretty bad winter kill and I think the same thing happened at Upper Kents.  I have heard that a few fish are jumping but multiple groups have been skunked at this lake.  They have not stocked it yet.  I would avoid fishing at this lake until it is stocked.

February 19th, 2016 – I have never ice fished this lake in the winter and haven’t heard any reports.  I will update if someone gives me any news.

May 20th, 2015 – I hear the gate is still closed – I am guessing it will open soon.  Maybe for this upcoming weekend.

April 18, 2015 – The gate is closed, you can still park below and walk up.  Should be good fishing right now.  This is a great lake to catch some beautiful Cutthroat.

May 22, 2012 – Kent’s lake and Upper Kent’s are now open.  Access going beyond Upper Kent’s is still closed.  We have heard that they are trying to get it open before the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.

Upper Kent’s Lake is still closed.  It should be open sometime in the middle of May.  We will update this report once the lake is open and updates have been received on fishing.

Anderson Meadow Reservoir

Anderson Meadow is a postcard type scenery with great fishing and open areas for fly fishing.

July 15th, 2019 – As of about 10 days ago, this lake is open!  Fishing should be good.  The fish are probably starving.  They Stocked on 7-10-19.  This is one of my favorite lakes on the mountain!

June 11th, 2019 – The road is still closed and you are unable to get to this lake. We are hoping it will be open in a couple of weeks.  We had an unusually snowy winter and there is still snow blocking the road.

February 19th, 2016 – Lake is frozen.  Snowmobiles would be required to access this lake In the winter.  This lake was drained two years ago to fix the dam.  Even though the dam has been fixed, I am not sure that they stocked the lake before fall.  I would guess ice fishing to be poor at this lake this season.  I will let you know how spring and summer goes.

August, 9th, 2015 – Fishing has been good.  Gold and Silver lures and Bait are the most popular.

July, 25th, 2015 – Lake is full, stocked and fishing has been good.  Mostly small stocked fish.

April 18th, 2015 – We have heard rumors that the repairs have been completed on the dam and they are waiting for natural run in to fill up the lake.  Hopefully this summer we will be fishing one of the most beautiful lakes on the mountain. (Still my favorite)

August 26, 2014 – Still have not heard anything regarding the Drain.  I am guessing that this lake will be unavailable for the rest of this year.

July, 26, 2014 – Lake is still drained… Still planning on fixing the drain, but not sure a date.

December 7, 2013 – Lake is still empty.  I am not sure what the plan is for the repair on the Dam.  I hope it is open next year.

October 18, 2013 – They drained the lake this year for dam repair.

July 29, 2013 – The lake is being drained.  We have had reports that it is really low and fishing has been hard because of the soft bank.  We have not heard whether they are draining it on purpose for water or if there is a problem with the dam or outlet.

June 8, 2013 – Gate is now open to travel all the way around the loop.  Early fishing has been Really good.

May 26, 2013 – Gate is still closed just above Upper Kents

May 22, 2012 – The access road to Anderson Meadow is still closed.  We have heard that they plan on opening the gate sometime this week in preparation of the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.  Fishing should be really good once the gate opens.

June 11th, 2019 – Fishing has been average.  They stocked recently, but we had a pretty bad winter kill this year.  Most fish died over the winter.  The stockers will take a few days to get

May 20th, 2014 – Early fishing has been good.  Kastmasters and Spinners – Tiger trout are starting to pick up.

July 26, 2014 – Fishing has slowed a little on the tigers, but seems  to still be going strong.

June 6, 2014 – Fishing has been really good. Tigers are still biting on the east and north ends of the lake.  Power Bait and worms seem to be the top choice.  Trolling seems to be the best strategy if you have a boat.

April 15th, 2014 – I would guess that the ice is off of most of the lake, but I don’t think that you can get there yet.  I will update as soon as someone comes in stating they were able to make it.

December 7, 2013 – For those of you willing to snowmobile in, the ice should be thick enough and fishing should be great!  Worms, Mealworms and jigs are going to be the best bet.  Try to stay warm out there!

May 25, 2013 – Fishing has been fantastic the last week.  From our information, the road is still closed just beyond upper Kents.

May 2, 2013 – Still can’t quite make it to Kents.  I have heard that it is getting close to being open.  Maybe another week of warm weather?

Kent’s Lake is home of the annual Fishing Derby for kids.  This is a great lake and the only lake on Beaver Mountain that will allow a boat with a Motor.  This lake has good sized fish and has a great camping area.

June 15, 2012 – Fishing has been really good.  Tiger trout over 1-2 lbs have been rumored to have been caught.  I have seen one pic so far.  If you have some, please send them in.  Bait fisherman seem to be doing really good.  Gold and silver lures or Spinners have also been working well.

May 22, 2012 – The lake is open and has been really good fishing the last week.  Some good sized Tiger Trout have been taken and the natives seem to be biting well.

The road leading to Kent’s Lake is still closed.  It should be open mid-May.  We will update when the lake is getting closer to opening.

Three Creeks Reservoir is usually open sometime in May.  This is also the first lake that is drained during the summer for irrigation. It is usually drained earlier on years with less water.

July 15th, 2019 – This lake gets drained yearly. It is one of my favorite spots to visit, but I usually leave the pole at home.  Great spot to hit all of the ATV trails on the mountain.

July 3, 2013 – This lake is probably going to be drained a little early this year. Low water years usually cause this lake to be used for irrigation.  Beautiful scenery and still has water for now.

June 15, 2012 – Because of the low water amounts and a very dry winter, Three Creeks is mostly empty.  The road that you use to access the reservoir is also closed for repair for the summer.  You may get to the reservoir by going around the loop passing Little Reservoir and Kent’s Lake.

April & May 2012 – The lake is now open – The route to the lake is closed during the week between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m.

June, 10th, 2015 – Road Closures are expected some time this summer to repair the road.
