2012 Rifle Deer Results and Pictures – Beaver Utah

Angie_Deer

This year the Deer hunt saw some patient hunters that were able to take nice bucks on the final weekend of the hunt.  At least three of the deer pictured were taken thursday or later in the hunt. I personally saw 2 nice bucks and a dozen or so smaller bucks during my hunt… Unfortunately I missed the 4 point I shot at opening morning and didn’t get another shot through the week.

I will try to get some stories from some of the hunters and add them to the pictures.

Congratulations to Angie Rust for her trophy buck!

Beaver Utah Activities and things to do

Beaver Utah is known most for its immense mountain range and beautiful valley.  There are tons of great outdoor activities that you can enjoy.

In the Winter Month’s, Beaver is a great place to come skiing, Snowmobiling, Sledding or just to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

The Ski Resort on Beaver Mountain is Eagle Point.  Eagle Point is a hidden gem in the Skiing world.  Even on the busiest of weekends, you will not wait in line more than a couple of minutes for lifts.  During the week, it can seem like you have the runs to yourself.  The Lodge has a great menu and can be an entertaining and peaceful getaway.  There are some snowshoe trails that offer agressive or adventurous skiers/snowboarders the opportunity to hike to more extreme trails.  The resort has two seperate parks that helps to protect some of the beginner riders from being mixed into the fast moving advanced riders. Cross Country skiing can be a great way to get into the back country of Beaver during the winter months.

Snowmobiling is a great way to enjoy the mountain.  Some cabin residents that live on the mountain year round use snowmobiles for access to and from their cabin.  We are working to get a tour system set up for Snowmobile tours of the area.  If you are interested, please contact Jason by emailing bigc7@msn.com.

Four Wheeling – Beaver is a great access point for the Paiute Trail system.  Please visit our ATV- Four Wheeler page for more information.

Camping – Beaver has many established campgrounds and tons of places to just “Pull-Off” and camp.  There are 3 main campgrounds in town with full hookups and various campgrounds on the mountain near the lakes.  Most people like to try to find a spot away from the crowds and enjoy the outdoors.  Feel free to come in or send us an email and we would be happy to recommend some secluded spots if you are looking for that peaceful vacation.

Fishing – The fishing around Beaver is really good.  We have a trophy reservoir 15 miles west and over a dozen mountain lakes that are easily accessible by any vehicle.  Information on all of our lakes can be found on the Beaver Utah Fishing Information page.

Main Street Movie Theatre – Beaver has a one screen old fashioned theatre in the center of town.  The movie is changed weekly and sometimes they have a 7:00 and 9:00 showing.  For Listing and Show Times, please call: 435-438-1234

Rock Hounding – Many people search the West Mountains and Beaver Mountains for all kinds of stones.  Geodes are commonly found among other beautiful stones.  In the west mountains near Milford is one of the only deposits of Red Beryl and Snowflake Obsidian.  You can also find Indian Tools and Artifacts in the surrounding hills.

Gold Panning –  The GPAA has a stretch of Indian Creek that they have opened to the public for panning.  Panning for gold is a great way to spend a day in the mountains with your family.  Feel free to contact the Forest Service or us for more information on areas to try.

Metal Detecting and Treasure Hunting – The stories are abound with the treasure hunters in Utah.  There were a lot of miners and trappers in utah in the mid 1800’s and a lot of Silver and gold was found.  Coins, Silverware, Tobacco Cans, Tokens and Buttons are a common find in the old mining towns around the area.  We have a lot of stories and would be happy to point you in some fun directions.  Email us or stop in.

Butch Cassidy Days – We have a fun day of activities to celebrate each year around the 4th of July. Activities include a parade, kids games and races, barbecue and outdoor entertainment.  Usually there are some booths that are open for various types of jewelry, etc.

Rodeo – The Rodeo is around the 24th of July each year.  Sometimes there is another event, but usually just the one.  They also have the Beaver County Fair in August or September at the Beaver County Fairgrounds.  Each year they hold a rodeo, demolition derby and multiple other fun events.

Horse Races – There are multiple Races throughout the summer.  Enjoy a day at the track with the family.  You can get more information about the dates by calling or emailing us.  Dates change each year.

Childrens Theatre – Multiple High School plays are done each year.  Feel free to contact the Beaver Opera House for event information.

Big Game Hunt Applications for Utah

Time is running out to apply to hunt Big-Game in Utah.  The Deadline is March 1st for entry.

For many of the hunts in Utah, the number of hunters exceeds the number of tags available.  Therefore Most Big Game hunts in Utah are applied for in February, the draw results are usually posted by May and the Hunt’s are September through December.  Because of this, a lot of out of state hunters are too late to apply for the current year hunts and have to wait until the following year.

If you are interested in applying for one of the current hunts, you can visit the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Big Game Application.

Southern Utah Hunt Units

POSTED — January – 2012:  In 2012, the hunt units for Utah have changed from 5 total units to 30.  For a full map of the divided areas, please see:  DWR MAP PDF

You can also visit the DWR site for a PDF containing the ratios of Bucks to 100 Does.  I found this information interesting. — Buck/Doe Map
